And now we want to introduce ourselves.

Gymnasium # 1512 is located in the Eastern region of Moscow. It got its status as economic-mathematical educational institution in 1993. The admission to the gymnasium is competitive. Every year from 3 to 6 children apply for 1 place in the senior grades. The name of the gymnasium speaks about the advanced teaching of mathematics and economics. The choice of the specialization depends on the present day situation in this country. Today Russia is shifting to new economic relations. The country needs economically competent people. So systematic approach in teaching of economics, mathematics and computing is in demand.

One of the strong features of systematic education in the gymnasium is the long-life cooperation with scientists and teachers of Moscow State Academy of Management. A wide range of optional courses allows many graduates to connect the choice of their future occupation with this academy.

Besides, the high standard of teaching of all the subjects provides admission to different universities and institutes for 100% of our graduates.

Gymnasium's computer net is widely used in the process of teaching different subjects. The teachers not only use computers for presentation of the new material, but also organize the system of checking students' knowledge. This system includes training programs and games.

The teachers of the gymnasium are competent and creative.

Among the 67 teachers there are 3 Doctors of Science, 7 Candidates of Science, 3 Honored Teachers of Russia, 3 Soros Prize Winners.

The principal of the gymnasium is the Honored Teacher of Russia Boris Schtulberg.

The teachers cooperate with the representatives of fundamental science. They are in search of new effective technologies and methods, providing a high standard of students' education. The methodical work is under the guidance of Doctor of Science , Professor Eugenia Polat.

The teachers use different methods and technologies : the method of developing tuition, informational technologies, cooperative learning, project method.

The psychological service in the gymnasium helps students solve their problems with schoolmates and teachers, create cooperative atmosphere, in students' and teachers' groups.

The gymnasium has become the center of international cooperation for working out the standard of economic learning.

The teachers and students have worked out the contents and the method of organization and carrying out The Business City Game. The game is held according to the following rules. Every grade organizes a firm, chooses the activity, approves of the staff of the firm. Every firm should be registered in "the municipal council", then it should open an account in the bank. To be registered the firm should provide a plan of its future production where the students estimate their future expenditure and profit. Every firm should gain profit. The Business City has its own municipal council, bank, court of arbitration, tax inspection. There are also different commercial games and contests. Among them "Enterprises and the market". This game creates the conditions of the real market economics.

The senior students take part in the virtual game called Mecom.

They try to design a real commercial situation. Different commercial risks are taken into account. The students also plan expenditure on scientific and research activities and advertisement. They try to estimate the necessary volume of production, in which the profit would be the highest. The price is also estimated. The computer processes the results and defines the winner.

The students can gain money advertising their goods or working at the super exchange.

Foreign language teachers have received very good results in their work: two students got the first diplomas at Moscow Foreign Languages Oympiad in 2001. The foreign languages department cooperates successfully with the regional methodical center and their colleges in this country and abroad. They use a lot of new methods in their work. Every year they design new international projects. A foreign language decade is a great annual event in this gymnasium. Lots of student take part in this event every year. Last year the script of the opening show "In Mood Romantic" was published in the newspaper "The First of September". (Ask for more information.)

Besides learning, there is a wide range of clubs and everyone can choose an activity, which suits his or her interests. There are many studios, dancing clubs, musical and art clubs.

Our talented students annually become prize winners of different city and municipal art festivals. One of them is "The Crystal Droplet".

Good sport facilities allow the teachers to hold different sports festivals. Practically all the students take part in sport activities. Some of them uphold the honor of the gymnasium at different competitions.

Many records have been set in this wonderful swimming-pool.

The students always look forward to our annual walking tour.

They like to feel the support of their schoolmates when they overcome difficulties . They try to acquire real tourist skills. What a pleasure to sit round the bon-fire , sing tourist songs, tell funny stories!

Extracurricular activities are aiming for harmonious development of our students. The students have a good opportunity to display their skills in acting , singing and dancing. The organizer of the theatrical and concert activities is Yuri Lesnykh, the teacher of music.

Literary and musical saloons are held for those who are keen on classical literature and chamber music.

The students study national culture and are proud of our museum of Pushkin, an outstanding Russian poet. Special lessons devoted to his creative activity are held here.

On the materials of the war museum the students study the glorious way of the 57th Army during the Second World War. War veterans are frequent guests in the gymnasiums.

Interesting extracurricular activities bring up students to love to create.

The best students compete at annual intellectual marathons.

The students like scientific research work . Two years ago Scientific Society of students was organized. Many students take part in the work of the scientific society.

They carry out research work under the guidance of their teachers and the deputy director Valentina Kulashkina.

There is a special camp for active members of the gymnasium. This camp is organized to teach students to work together , to solve different problems. It is also a great fun for students and teachers. The idea of this camp belongs to Alexandra Yurtsvayg, one of the deputy directors.

Mediacenter is also a very important place in the gymnasium. Here students work in Internet, carry out scientific work, broadcast home news and issue our newspaper Parus (the Sail).
