Supernova 2006el and 2006dn in UGC 12188

Supernova 2006el and 2006dn in UGC 12188

This page is devoted to information on supernova 2006el and 2006dn in UGC 12188.   Basic information on these SN, including the last reported brightness, on this Supernova can be found on the main page.  Information on the original web pages for many of these images can be found on the updates and links web pages.

sn06dn_i.gif 2006dn was discovered by Lick Observatory Supernova Search (USA) on 2006/07/05.45.   LOSS does follow up observations on all of their supernova discoveries (which they do not publish BTW), and on 2006/08/25.28 they discovered Supernova 2006el.

sn06el_i.gif The host galaxy for both of these supernovae is UGC 12188.   Double supernovae are rare, but they happen about once a year these days.   These supernovae are fairly faint, so look at them while you can.   We have a DSS Photometry reference image made by Odd Trondal.  Icons generated from the discovery images.   This supernova is in the Constellation Lacerta.

The following is a list of images of this SN, in chronological order. Click on the name in the "Image Credit" column to see the image. Times and dates are in UT unless otherwise noted. If you know of any others, please tell me!
