Supernova 2000C in NGC 2415

Supernova 2000C in NGC 2415

This page is devoted to information on Supernova 2000C in NGC 2415 Basic information on this SN, including the last reported brightness, on this Supernova can be found on the main page. Information on the original web pages for many of these images can be found on the Supernova links web page.

sn00c_i.jpg This SN is located very close to the location of 1998Y. So close that for a time this was thought to be a "second outburst" of that SN. It was originally reported to me via the "isn_alert" news list, which announces supernova suspects so that other people can verify them. I originally found out about it on Jan. 13th via a note to this list from Marco Migliardi of Col druscie' Remote Observatory Supernova Search who independantly discovered it. However it turns out that Steven Foulkes from the UK found and reported this SN on Jan. 8th. It was not announced by IAU until the 19th.
