Supernova 2000bg in NGC 6240
This page is devoted to information on Supernova 2000bg in NGC 6240 Basic information on this SN, including the last reported brightness, on this Supernova can be found on the main page. Information on the original web pages for many of these images can be found on the Supernova links web page.Another LOSS discovery. This one is a very oddly shaped galaxy almost on the equator. This was later discovered to be a Type IIn supernova. Icon generated from LOSS discovery image. Odd Trondal made a Photometry reference image.
Just as this SN was starting to fade out,
NRAO announced a
Possible Radio Supernova in NGC 6240
which appeared at roughly the same time as
Supernova 2000bg, but at a different
location in
NGC 6240
