Supernova 1999eb in NGC 664

Supernova 1999eb in NGC 664

This page is devoted to information on Supernova 1999eb in NGC 664 Basic information on this SN, including the last reported brightness, on this Supernova can be found on the main supernova page. Information on the original web pages for many of these images can be found on the Supernova links web page.

This one's interesting. First, it's of the rare type IIn (from IAUC 7268) and we soon learned that it appears to be coincident with GRB 991002 (from IAUC 7269). NGC 664 has been very active lately, spawning SN 1996bw, and 1997W. A really neat image showing both of these SN at the same time can be found here. Normally, I wait until I get about 6 or so images before starting a web page for a specific SN, with 3 images and a spectrum the first day, I decided to get started while I had time. Supernova 1999eb is the 25th LOSS discovery this year.
