was one of the brighter Sn from the recent past.
Announced in
IAUC 5961
this supernova was discovered independently by several people.
1994I
was discovered in the magnitued 8.4 Whirlpool galaxy (aka
M51,
NGC 5194)
in UMa. This supernova got as bright as magnitued 12.8.
