Stars and Galaxies

This section of the exhibit hall provides a colorful
description of the birth and death of stars, including an audiovisual program describing neutron stars, pulsars, supernovae and black holes.

It also provides an interactive model of the Milky Way galaxy,

a celestial sphere and a large planisphere.

Other interactives allow visitors to discover the relation between the color and the surface temperature of a star, to compare galaxies in a Palomar photographic plate and to explore the relation between the redshift and the speed of a galaxy. A video program illustrates the different types of galaxies and provides an imaginary fly through the Virgo supercluster of galaxies. The Big Bang and the Expansion of the Universe are other interesting topics presented in this hall.
