Hugo Levato

Dr. Orlando Hugo Levato is a Senior Researcher at the National Research Council (CONICET) and Director of Instituto de Ciencias Astron†Ѓmicas, de la Tierra y del Espacio (ICATE) San Juan Province in the western part of Argentina. He is also a Senior Professor at the Universidad Nacional de San Juan teaching undergraduate courses of Stellar Astrophysics and Graduate courses at the Ph.D. Program at the Science Faculty of the Universidad Nacional de San Juan. Dr. Levato received his Ph.D. in 1973 from Universidad Nacional de La Plata.

Abstract: Strongest and weakest points of science in Latin America

I will review, statistically, the strong points of science in Latin America and also the weakest points. We will discuss possible ways of contributing to enhancing the abilities of the region and improving those areas in science in which Latin America require additional efforts. This review will focus on the possibility of cooperating with the new policies at Arecibo.
