A raster of Azimuth scans with steps of 1.5' in zenith-angle offset about the instantaneous direction of the countinuum calibrator 3C286 was used to map the beam responses of all the 7 beams of ALFA. The animations below show the individual beam responses and their collective response associated with the two polarizations separately. The AZ and ZA cuts through the beam responses are shown in the bottom and left panels respectively. The gain estimates (in K/Jy) here assume the L-band flux density of 3C286 to be 14.4 Jy. Note the differences in the gain of different beams, and the coma-lobes associated with the outer beams.
