Proposal Title: Continuum and Spectral-Line Observations of SNR G42.8+0.6 and PSR J1907+0918
ABSTRACT:
We request a total of 25 hours of Arecibo time to carry out continuum observations, at S-band, L-band and 430
MHz, spectral-line observations, at 1420 and 1720 MHz, of SNR G42.8+0.6 and polarization measurements of
PSR J1907+0918. The telescope time will be used to determine: (1) the distances to G42.8+0.6 and PSR
J1907+0918; (2) morphological and polarimetric properties of G42.8+0.6; and (3) the radio spectrum of
G42.8+0.6. The observations will be extremely useful to clarify the current controversy surrounding the connection
between G42.8+0.6, PSR J1907+0918 and the soft-gamma repeater 1900+14.
