Proposal Type: Regular
General Category: Pulsars
Observation Category:
Total Time Requested: 69 Hours
Proposal Title: Conal Beam Rotation and the Problems of Nulling, Drifting and Mode Changing
ABSTRACT:
We request time for pulse-sequence polarimetry of a group of some 50 pulsars, which have received little study at
all or little study within the last decade. Most of the pulsars will be observed at 430 MHz, though a few require
di erent frequencies. We will focus on obtaining observations which are well suited for the study of pulse nulling
characteristics in relation to the subpulse modulation and mode-changing properties of the adjacent periods. Our
focus is on a set of AO-visible stars which are not among the brightest, so the AO will be used to obtain a level of
quality unachievable elsewhere, though we have also included some compatible observations aimed at speci c but
slightly di erent objectives. We expect that our observations will produce a high quality set of observations useful
for a variety of purposes for many years.
