Proposal Title: A 20cm Search for Pulsars in Globular Clusters using WAPP
ABSTRACT:
We request 47 hr of Arecibo time in order to observe 8 globular clusters using the newly commissioned facility
Wideband Arecibo Pulsar Processor at L-band. With its superb wide-bandwidth capability, coupled with excellent
frequency and time resolution, WAPP makes Arecibo the world's premiere instrument for pulsar searches of
globular clusters. Our proposed search will make use of these strengths to look for cluster slow and millisecond
pulsars, both isolated and in long- and short-orbital-period binaries, with signicant sensitivity to sub-millisecond
pulsations.
