Proposal Title: Radar Observations of Mars during the 2007 Opposition
ABSTRACT:
We propose to make a series of Sband radar observations of Mars during the planet's next opposition in late 2007.
This will be a followup to the very successful observations from the 2005 opposition. The objective will be to make
highresolution radar reflectivity images of large portions of the planet. These will be used to map out
decimeterscale surface roughness, circular polarization ratios, coherent backscatter from north polar ice, and
reflectivity features possibly related to aqueous processes.
