Proposal Title: The AntiCenter Waterfall
ABSTRACT:
A pilot observation of the Galactic anticenter has shown that by oberserving the cascade of ultrahigh velocity
clouds we can begin to understand the processes by which the halo interacts with a population of HVCs. Recent
simulations demonstrate that by changing the essential unknown parameters of the halocloud dynamics we can
generate observably di#erent patterns of interaction. We beleive that by mapping this region with ALFA, we can
do the first comprensive dynamical study of HVCs that goes beyond simple population metrics and taps into our
ability to image these clouds in astounding detail.
