Proposal Title: Starburst and Post-Starburst Galaxies in the Pegasus Cluster
ABSTRACT:
We have found a surprisingly high fraction of post-starburst (PSB) and starburst (SB) galaxies in 5 nearby rich
clusters of galaxies. This activity is similar in nature to the Butcher-Oemler (B-O) eect, but the clusters are 10
times nearer. This proximity provides a unique opportunity to solve the main questions about the origin of the B-O
eect. We propose to determine the HI spectrum of 4 SB and PSB galaxies in the Pegasus cluster.
