Resolving Pulsar Emission Regions with Arecibo

We propose to measure the distribution of flux density for three distant and strongly scattered pulsars. Analysis of the measured distributions will identify or constrain the emission structure, thereby providing insights into pulsar emission physics. This delicate measurement requires the sensitivity of Arecibo and the high dynamic range of PUPPI. We will export baseband voltage data directly to disk with PUPPI for analysis off-site. This mode is non-standard, but has been used successfully with GUPPI. We anticipate resolution as small as tens of kilometers at the pulsar.
