Proposal Title: Radar and Lidar Observations for the Leonids Meteor Showers, 1997-2000: A
Leonids Campaign Proposal
ABSTRACT:
The Leonid meteor shower passes through its 33 year peak during the years 1996- 2001. This particular cycle is
expected to be exceptional for its quantity of spectacular meteor trails and rate. As many as 100,000 meteors per
hour have been predicted. Meteor observers all over the world will be monitoring this shower using equipment
ranging from the human eye to airborn imaging systems to meteor radars among others. We will participate in this
e ort using the ISR, lidars and photometers to look for meteors and their in uence.
