Total Time Requested: 64 Hours
Proposal Title: Radar Observations of Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto at 430 MHz and 2380
MHz
ABSTRACT:
The primary goal of these observations is to measure the 70cm scattering properties of the icy Galilean satellites in
order to extend and con rm earlier work and provide additional input for models of the sub-surface scattering
layers. Europa is the primary target as previous work only placed an upper limit on its 70cm cross section. The
sessions include 12cm radar runs to obtain linear and circular polarization measurements and to further con rm the
70cm data.
