HI content of low mass star forming dwarf galaxies.

HI gas is usually associated with blue star forming galaxies. However, in a less sensitive targeted HI survey (NIBLES), 109 blue star forming dwarf galaxies were undetected in HI. Most of these galaxies contain large H emission, have a very blue color (SDSS u-z magnitude less than 2) and therefore should have a large reservoir of HI gas as well. Follow up observations of these galaxies could provide interesting clues to the dynamics of star formation and galaxy evolution in these systems as well as provide greater statistics for a more accurate determination of the slope of the HIMF below 108 M .
