Proposal Title: Three X-ray Bright Neutron Star Candidates: A Search for Radio Pulsar Coun-
terparts
ABSTRACT:
We request a modest allocation (8 hr) of Arecibo time to search for radio pulsations from three X-ray{selected
neutron star candidates, two of which are associated with supernova remnants and exhibit signi cantly non-thermal
X-ray spectra. The third target is a thermal X-ray point source with a very high X-ray to optical ux ratio, a
newly identi ed member of a growing class of mysterious nearby isolated neutron stars that may well be radio
quiet. Detection of pulsations will have important implications for our understanding of the origins, energetics, and
evolution of these unusual objects.
