Radar Imageing of Asteroid 2007 XH16

We propose radar imaging of newly-discovered asteroids 2007 XH16. Based on its visual magnitude, it is probably within a factor of two of 500m in diameter. Nothing else is currently known about this ob ject, but we expect to obtain visible and IR observations with the help of outside observers. We can observe it at 7.5-m resolution on 2007 December 23 and 24. The telescope is already scheduled for radar observations immediately after these observations on the 23rd, minimizing required observatory resources. We expect to determine its shape and rotation period, and learn whether it is a binary ob ject. We will also obtain full-stokes images to explore regolith properties. If the results demand it, we will observe it again on December 24. In that case, the PI would run the experiment without other observatory personnel due to the Christmas holiday.
