OH Observations of Two Translucent Cloud Edges

We prop ose to survey strips across the outer regions of two translucent molecular clouds (MBM 3 and MBM 16) in the 1665 and 1667 MHz main line, hyp erfine, ground state transitions of OH in order to determine whether we can detect the presence of molecular gas b eyond the cloud edges as determined from observations of the CO(1-0) line at 115 GHz. These regions are transitional regions b etween gas that is converting from primarily atomic to primarily molecular and may not b e easily traceable using the CO(1-0).
