Timing Eight Millisecond Pulsars Found in Fermi Unidentified Sources

We propose timing observations over a span of one year of eight binary millisecond pulsars found in Fermi gamma-ray unidentified sources. Most of these systems are Black Widows or Redbacks and some are eclipsing over 50% of the orbit. Due to these properties, one year of timing observations has allowed us to obtain a phase-connected timing solution for one of them and orbital solutions for six. Obtaining full ephemerides for these sources will allow us to check for the presence of gamma-ray pulses by folding Fermi photon data. Pulsars emitting in both radio and gamma rays offer a window into the pulsar emission mechanism simultaneously at two different energy bands. Some Black Widow and Redback systems contain particularly massive neutron stars, and mass measurements from timing can provide constraints on the neutron star equation of state. Outreach Abstract:

Section I I - Time Request
The following times are in LST. For these observations night-time is not needed.

Begin End IntervalInterval 01:35 04:05 09:30 12:05 16:00 16:50 17:00 22:10

Days Needed at This Interval 6 11 11 11

Time Constraints (Must Be Justified in the Prop osal Text) For J0251+26 (visible at LST 01:35 - 04:05): 6 x 0.75 h monthly sessions. For J1048+23 (visible at LST 09:30 - 12:05): 3 x 1 h daily sessions; 3 x 1 h weekly sessions starting 1 week after the last daily session; 5 x 1 h monthly sessions starting 1 month after the last weekly session. For J1625-00 (visible at LST 16:00 - 16:50): 3 x 1 h daily sessions; 3 x 1 h weekly sessions starting 1 week after the last daily session; 5 x 1 h monthly sessions starting 1 month after the last weekly session. For the rest of the sources, which will be observed as a group in a common session, the earliest rise is at LST 17:00 and the latest set is at LST 22:10. For this batch of sources: 3 x 2h35min daily sessions; 3 x 2

2h35min weekly sessions starting 1 week after the last daily session; 5 x 2h35min monthly sessions starting 1 month after the last weekly session.
