Research with Students: I have been supervisor of a few Ph.D. students. The most recent was Jose' Francisco Salgado of the University of Michigan who made a study of "The Distribution of Interstellar Electron Density Fluctuations", receiving his degree in 2000. At Arecibo, I have supervised over 10 NSF REU students during recent years. I have also organized "hands on" summer observing projects for the Arecibo REU students. 2. Other Education Activities: I took part in planning, organizing, and running of a month-long astronomical Summer School for promising Indian B.Sc. and M.Sc. students in May 1990, sharing in lecturing and supervising duties. I helped organize, lectured to, and ran "hands on" experiments for the 2001, 2003 and 2005 NAIC/NRAO summer schools on "Single Dish Radio Astronomy". I also co-edited the ASP book from the first of these schools. I gave lecture courses to graduate classes while a visiting professor in India. 3. Activities with the ALFA receiver: I have helped organize several workshops for the Arecibo Lband Feed Array (ALFA) consortia during the past three years. I have also taken part in calibrating the performance of ALFA. I also helped develop the logistics and telescope drive program for the GALFACTS survey, and participated in precursor observations and data analysis. 4. Computer Program Development: Over many years, I was one of the main developers of the NOD2 library of computer programs (NOD2) for the handling of, and operations on, large two-dimensional continuum data arrays. NOD2 came to be used as a standard by observatories in many parts of the World. Collaborators (within past 48 months)
