Focus: Align primary, secondary, and tertiary
AO9 is a survey monument at the bottom of the
primary.
Measure the offset of the primary relative to AO9:
-
Select 6 reflector targets spaced across the primary and
measure their location using a theodolite mounted on AO9. This gives the
primary offset relative to AO9.
Move the tertiary to align it with the secondary:
-
Place 6 reflector paddles above the tertiary and measure
their location relative to the reflectors on the tertiary. This is needed
since we can't see inside the tertiary and the secondary at the same
time with the theodolite.
-
Align the 6 paddles relative to the secondary using a
theodolite mounted inside the dome.
