Map of the thermal inertia of Iapetus (Rivera-Valentin et al., 2011). The colors represent the magnitude of the thermal inertia in J m-2 K-1 s-1/2. Thermal inertia is a property of a material and characterizes how efficiently it holds onto thermal energy (i.e, heat).
