I am a computer specialist/research associate at the Arecibo Observatory. We are the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center, operated by Cornell University and supported by the National Science Foundation. Half of my time is devoted to maintaining and installing data reduction software and working with visiting scientists to make sure they have the tools needed to work with their data. The other half of my time is devoted to asteroid research, supported by an outside research grant. I combine visible and near-infrared spectral data to determine asteroid composition.
I was formerly associated with the Geology Department of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, as a Post-Doctoral Fellow from October of 1995 until March 1999. I completed a Ph. D. in Planetary Sciences at the University of Arizona in 1995. I worked with Glen Mattioli on several projects concerned with the study of volcanos in the Lesser Antilles.
