The new generation of large-scale 21cm line synthesis surveys of the Milky Way allows a much more detailed examination of our galaxy's structure than ever before. We are using the high angular resolution and wide-field coverage of the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey to investigate the neutral hydrogen (H I) structure in the vicinity of the Galactic midplane.
