Climbing
I first became intrigued with rock climbing during the summer of 2007, when many of my fellow interns regularly climbed at gyms and outdoor locations in the DC area. The following spring I took a beginning rock class at UO, and I have been hooked ever since! Climbing continues to challenge me both mentally and physically, and has taken me to some truly stunning locations.
- Peak District, Cornwall, Devon, and Bristol, England
- Snowdonia, Wales
- Smith Rock, Flagstone, and the Callahans, Oregon
- El Chorro, Spain
- Marseille (Calanques), France

Society of Physics Students
SPS is a national society for undergraduate physics students. During my time at UO I was involved with revitalizing our local SPS chapter and served as co-president for several years. As a group we organized seminars with physics professors, planned outreach events with local schools and the public, and led tours of research laboratories, all with the aim of better integrating the undergraduate community with the UO grad students and faculty. 2010 Marshall Scholars
I awarded a 2010 Marshall Scholarship that currently funds my PhD study at the University of Cambridge. Marshall Scholarship

Eugene Science Factory Planetarium
I volunteered at this planetarium starting spring of my freshman year (2007) until Summer 2009. Learning how to give the weekend shows helped me tremendously improve my public-speaking skills. Science Factory Planetarium

Travel
Traveling is an overarching passion of mine and this enthusiasm for seeing new places has brought me to many wonderful adventures. A few years ago, I started a blog to document some of these travels and experiences. Puddle Wonderful

Running
I've always used running as a tool for relieving stress and exploring new places. While it's usually a solitary pursuit, I've also taken part in a few 10K races and one half-marathon. The wonderful, healthy atmosphere and sense of community makes these events powerful experiences.

- Ballybunion, Ireland 10K, April 2011
- St John's College Fun Run, Cambridge 10K, May 2012
- Munich, Germany 10K, October 2012
