Corrections for NST IB Physics B `Classical Dynamics'

• Handout II:
  • Slide 80: second line, should say ``... force ${\bf F}_0$ ...''.
  • Slide 82: the last part of the PE is missing an $h$, and should say ``... $\approx m g h \theta^2/2$.
  • Slide 97: if the direction of $\Delta p$ is in the $+z$ direction, then $\omega_x (t=0)$ is positive, and $\omega_y (t=0)$ is negative. So, it would be better to say $|\omega_x (t=0)|=(\Delta p)y$ and $|\omega_y (t=0)|=(\Delta p)x$. (The wrong/undefined signs for $\omega_x$ and $\omega_y$ at $t=0$ are not important for what is subsequently needed, i.e. $\omega_x^2 + \omega_y^2$ at $t=0$.)
  • Slide 100: the second diagram has axis 1 in the wrong direction, it should be in the opposite direction (this is not important for the derivation of the space frequency on this slide, which uses the magnitude of $\dot{\omega}_1$ to derive $\Omega_{\rm s}$).
• Handout IV:
  • Slide 218: ``... do to ...'' should be ``... due to ...''.
