A New Mass Model For The JVAS
Gravitational Lens B1030+074.

B1030+074 is a double image gravitational lens, which was dis-
covered during the Jodrell Bank VLA Astrometric Survey (JVAS).
The separation of the lensed components is 1.56 arcseconds and
the ux density ratio of the brightest component (component A)
to the faintest component (component B) is between 12 and 19.
HST WFPC2 observations have revealed the lensing galaxy, which
lies close to component B. The redshifts of the lensing galaxy and
the background source have also been obtained and are 0.599 and
1.535 respectively. However, as for most double image lens sys-
tems, mass modeling is diфcult due to the lack of data constraints.
New observations of B1030+074 have been made using
VLBA+E elsberg at a frequency of 1.7GHz. These observations
have revealed a 60 mas jet structure in component A with a corre-
sponding negative parity jet in component B, extending roughly
10 mas. With these additional data constraints it is now possi-
ble to model the lens system with a Singular Isothermal Ellipsoid
(SIE).
