STROMLO RELAY 1976

On April 2, 1976, a relay competition was held at Stromlo, between four teams of academics, scholars, workshop staff and design office staff. Professor Alex Rodgers was the starter and race official. Although an official record of the competition no longer exists, it is believed that the scholars' team, lead by kiwi Peter Cottrell, came out as the winners. New Zealand's successes in running races continued some four months later at the Montreal Olympics, when John Walker took the gold in the 1500m.
Twenty years after the race, some previously classified snapshots of the race can finally become available to the rest of the world.
