First announcement
The Conference MAO-2014 is devoted to the 70th anniversary
of the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences
of Ukraine (MAO NASU). It is well respected as important event
for the international co-operation in the field of astronomy and
astrophysics in Ukraine. The Conference main topics are:
Star formation in galaxies of different morphological types.
Evolution of low-mass stars (solar-type stars, cool, and
ultracool dwarfs). Modelling of the dynamical evolution of galaxies and galactic
structures. High resolution modelling of the galactic center
dynamics. Supermassive black hole co-evolution with galactic
center. Supermassive black hole merging in galactic center
environments. Researches of Solar System planets and their satellites
by methods of spectroscopy, photometry and polarimetry.
Exoplanet systems and stars with disc structure:
theory and experiment. Physics and dynamics of small Solar System bodies:
comets, asteroids and Kuiper Belt objects. Solar magnetism and solar spectropolarimetry. Cosmic plasma and energetic particles in heliosphere. Fundamental and applied astrometry and geodynamics.
Celestial and terrestrial reference frames. Application
of space and ground astrogeodetic techniques.
Agenda
We plan to present historical review of astronomical schools of
thought as well as to address issues of sustainable development
of astronomical investigation in Ukraine. It will be make
an assessment of new challenges and trends in the field of astronomy
and astrophysics. As one of the special issue of Conference will
be accent to the importance of social factors in the sustainable
development of science. We will also emphasize the importance of
mutual co-operation at all levels, from local to international.
The Conference agenda will include invited speakers, oral
contributions, and posters. A preliminary program and further
information about the Conference will be given later.
Language
The Conference language will be English.
Location
The Conference is organized by the Main Astronomical
Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and
the Ukrainian Astronomical Association.
The Conference will be held at the MAO NASU, Kyiv, Ukraine.
Kyiv has an international airport, railway and bus stations
with connections to all major European and Ukrainian cities. Visa may
be required for citizens of several European and overseas
countries. Please contact your local Ukrainian Consulates
beforehand. Please contact the LOC for visa assistance if it is
required.
