Medicine in Russia is inexpensive and efficient. The service may not be as faultless as in the USA or Canada, but the medical treatment is of high quality.

We provide our students with health insurances of one of the oldest Russian insurance companies "Ingosstrakh". In case of a sudden illness or an accident, one only needs to phone to the "Ingosstrakh" Service Center. A dispatcher will give an advise in English about medical service one needs, and immediately send an ambulance if necessary.

"Ingosstrakh" covers, in particular, the following expenses:

• for out-patient treatment, including expenses for doctor's services, diagnostics, medications, dressing materials prescribed by the doctor;
• for ambulance delivery to the hospital;
• for in-patient treatment, hospitalization, surgery, diagnostics, including expenses for medication, dressing materials prescribed by the doctor.

Nevertheless we strongly advise students who have any chronic disease to have a good North American health insurance. In this case we ask a student to contact his/her insurance company and to find out if his/her health insurance is valid in Russia and how it works there. Most often the student has to pay first and the expenses will be reimbursed on his/her return home.
