Feel free to share your impressions on our Facebook page. I think I learned as much or more than I would have had I stayed in the U.S. I certainly wouldn't have experienced as much emotional growth. Being in another country really changed me. Seeing another way of life really made me look at the world differently. Ian Le The department here is the friendliest and closest I've ever found. It's been an absolute joy to be here, and I can't wait to come back. Tom Church Great program, great courses. The highlight was the chance to take small, two or three person classes with amazing professors. I learned more math this semester than in any other before. Ian Whitehead Math in Moscow was awesome ! The level of math instruction was really top-notch, and I especially appreciated the small class sizes that allowed for a close, personable relationship with the professors. I never felt any hesitation when I wanted to ask for clarification on a definition or proof that I didn't understand quite well enough. Apart from the mathematics, spending a semester here was a great cultural experience. I strongly recommend going on the trips to St. Petersburg and Vladimir and Suzdal, and learning as much Russian as you can. P.S. Remember, Без муки, нет науки. Harry Richman This was an incredible semester. I decided to take courses in areas with a long Russian tradition that wouldn't be available at most colleges in America, and it was a fascinating experience. The professors were not only knowledgeable about the subject, but were students and collaborators of the mathematicians whose names kept appearing with theorems we learned in class. Being so close to the creative origins of beautiful mathematical subjects is an experience I will remember and try to replicate for the rest of my life. Math in Moscow is a wonderful program that I would recommend to anyone seriously interested in mathematics. Ethan Ackelsberg |
