This is an elementary Russian course intended for adult beginners in Russian.


Curriculum:

    1. Preface.

      This is an elementary Russian course intended for beginners in Russian.

      The course aims at helping the student acquire a working knowledge of Russian so that he could: communicate with Russians on topics covered by the situations dealt with in the course; express his thoughts in Russian on the basis of the grammar and vocabulary studied; understand orally, read and retell simple texts, conveying in Russian his attitude towards what he had read or hear; read with a dictionary and translate more difficult texts and prepare oral or written reports on given topic.

      This course gives the student a thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of Russian.

    2. Introductory phonetic course

      • The Russian alphabet
      • Russian sounds and letters, reading skill.
      • Vowels
      • Consonants

    3. Grammar and Syntax

      • The Noun: the Gender, the Plural. Cases of the Noun: Nominative, Genitive, Prepositional, Accusative, Instrumental and Dative.
      • The Personal Pronoun: the Gender, the Plural. Cases of Personal Pronouns: Nominative, Genitive, Prepositional, Accusative, Instrumental and Dative.
      • The Possessive Pronoun: the Gender, the Plural. Cases of Personal Pronouns: Nominative, Genitive, Prepositional, Accusative, Instrumental and Dative.
      • The Demonstrative Pronoun: the Gender, the Plural. Cases of Personal Pronouns: Nominative, Genitive, Prepositional, Accusative, Instrumental and Dative.
      • The Adverb.
      • The Adjective: the Gender, the Plural. Cases of Personal Pronouns: Nominative, Genitive, Prepositional, Accusative, Instrumental and Dative. Comparative and Superlative Degrees.
      • The Numeral: Quantitative, Ordinal.
      • The Verb: the 1st and the 2nd Conjugations of the Verb. The Present, The Past, The Future Tenses. The Imperative Mood. Reflexive Verbs. Perfective and Imperfective Aspects of the Verb. Verbs of Motion.
      • The Preposition.
      • Conjunctions.
      • Simple and Complex Sentences. Word Order in Affirmative, Negative and Interrogative Sentences. Double Negation.
