The first
line of LOMO® amateur telescopes 60 – 80 mm in diameter was produced in
1938. Now, under the ASTELE™ name, LOMO PLC and LOMO America are glad to offer you a new line of
recreational astronomical telescopes ranging from 70 to 254mm in
diameter, and a new line of spotting scopes from 30 to 95mm in diameter.
Our recreational astronomical telescopes and spotting scopes have Maksutov
Cassegrain and Maksutov Newtonian
optical design, invented by a famous Russian engineer Dmitrii Maksutov
(1886–1964) of the State Optical Institute in Leningrad (now St.
Petersburg, the same city where LOMO is located). These telescopes are
known for exceptional optical performance and compactness. The wide field
of view and the low focal ratio have made Maksutov
Cassegrain and Maksutov Newtonian
telescopes popular with amateur astronomers world-wide.
WHAT
CAN YOU SEE THROUGH ASTELE TELESCOPES?
Our line of recreational telescopes consists of several groups of scopes
based on their optical parameters. By following the links below you can
see a list of some celestial objects and their details that you can see
through our telescopes.
