ISC “Kosmotras” Director General held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Russian Federation.

Mr. Vladimir Andreev, Director General of ISC “Kosmotras”, held a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Omar Saif Ghobash, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Russian Federation on April 16, 2009.

In the course of the meeting, the Ambassador was briefed on RS-20-Based Dnepr Launch Vehicle Program and two launch bases: Baikonur Cosmodrome and Yasny Launch Base. The two sides discussed progress of preparation of UAE DubaiSat-1 spacecraft launch on RS-20 rocket (Dnepr launch vehicle). Both sides expressed mutual interest in the development of cooperation between ISC Kosmotras and UAE companies.  

 The DubaiSat-1 is the first Earth remote sensing satellite, which is in full possession of the UAE.  The 200kg spacecraft will be used for urban and infrastructure planning, emergency situations/disasters monitoring, etc.
