VI.2. List of plate centers

When entering Plates section user should open the file with information on moments of observations, plate centers, angular dimensions of sky regions covered by plates and numbers of observatories (the file can be created for the first time or can be prepared according to bellow described format in advance). As this takes place, user's actions do not vary from those described in IV.2. List of observations. It should be taken in mind that the type extension which is actual in default of specifications is “.plt” (Plates). The only possible extension permitted for the new name of the file with plate centers is “.plt”.

It is supposed that the position of plate center and half-dimensions of plate are specified in right ascension and declination (the edge of rectangular plate is oriented to the equator). There is possibility to specify position of plate center as “accurate” or as “approximate”. Corresponding formats resemble those of observed positions of minor planets:

Columns Use
1–13 designation of plate — any combination of symbols.
16–31 date of observation (UT) (year, month, day)
33–43 right ascension of plate center (in hours, minutes, and seconds of time or in hours and minutes)
45–55 declination of plate center (in degrees, minutes, and seconds of arc or in degrees and minutes)
59–63 half-dimension of plate in right ascension expressed in minutes of time (within the limits from 0 to 300 minutes).
67–70 half-dimension of plate in declination expressed in degrees (within the limits from 0 to 75).
78–80 observatory code.

User has possibility to add string with data for plate, to insert string between existing ones, to edit string or to delete some of them. Necessary actions with String editor are fulfilled in the same fashion that is describe in IV.4
