Earth Orientation Parameters (EOP)

EOP series are regularly submitted to the IERS, and also are available at the IAA EOP Service page.

EPN coordinate time series

EUREF Permanent GPS Network (EPN) coordinate time series is computed from analysis of available EUREF weekly solutions. The basis of this project is using non-fiducial (free network) strategy for computation of station coordinates. This strategy has some evident advantages:

• Such a solution does not cause a distortion of the network.
• More stations can be used for orientation of a network which makes final orientation of the solution more reliable and dependant to a lesser degree on unmodelled errors in coordinates of fiducial stations.
• Such a solution can be easily transformed to any reference system and re-transformed to another one using a much simpler procedure than that needed for removing constraints.

Two approaches to obtain an homogeneous coordinate time series have been tested.

First one is based on re-processing of the official EPN weekly combined solutions. This processing is made in three steps:

• Removing constraints from the official EPN solutions.
• Re-scaling of covariance matrix to obtain homogeneous solution in sense of errors of coordinates.
• Transformation of obtained quasi-free-network solution to ITRF.
