Research interests: atomic and electronic structure of clean and metal covered surfaces of semiconductors (A3В5, А4В4, molecular crystals) in wide temperature range (10K-1200K); electron spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation sources; scanning probe microscopy with atomic resolution.

Honorary degree (Doctor Honoris Cause) at l'Universite de Provence, Aix-Marseille is awarded by the French Ministry of Education and Sciences (2003).
Bronze medal "For achievements in scientific research-and-development - 1982" on "The Permanent Soviet Union Exhibition of National Achievements (for elaboration and realization of a novel-type liquid helium technique for surface science investigations in UHV, as well as for the series of the first investigations of the structure and electronic properties of semiconductor surfaces at about 10 K).
