The 1st Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad to be held in Siberia
(Asian part of Russian Federation) in the first decade of December 2005
(a month later than the 10th IAO in Beijing).
It is proposed Irkutsk region (by Baikal lake) for the place of the
1st APAO, but at least two other Siberian regions are ready to
organise it as well.
Siberian Organizing Committee is kindly invite countries of the region
to this Olympiad, which to be held as a regional programme in line with
the International Astronomy Olympiad.
The main points for the teams formation:
We hope teams from traditional participating in IAO countries (China, India,
Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Thailand, Asian part of Russia) to take part in the
1st APAO. May be Central Asian countries of CIS, Australia, Japan
and other countries will arrive as well. Observers are welcome to the Olympiad
as well.
The second announcement about the 1st APAO to be presented
later. Nevertheless National Astronomy Olympic Committees may start to form
the teams not only to the 10th IAO in Beijing but also to the
1st APAO in Siberia.
