[View to Crimean Laboratory of SAI] The 6th International Astronomy Olympiad has been organized on September 26 - October 3, 2001 in the scientific town of Nauchnyj, Republic of Crimea, on a base of P.K.Sternberg Astronomical Institute's Crimean Laboratory and Crimean Astrophysical Observatory.

[Student's hostel fo Crimean Laboratory of SAI] The main organizers of the Olympiad were Euro-Asian Astronomical Society (directly by the Olympic Coordinating Council), the National Representative Astronomy Organization for IAO on the Crimean peninsula - the Crimean/Simferopol' Society of Amateur Astronomers and Ministry of Education of Republic of Crimea.

[Dome of the 400-mm astrograph] Autorized National Representative Astronomy Organizations (ANRAO) of the participating countries were authorized to form the teams of the Olympiad member-states. There were applications from 12 national teams but only 9 teams or representatives did arrived:

Official languages of the Olympiad - English and Russian. Problems were prepared by the Organizing Committee in these two languages and the leaders were responsible to translate tasks to native languages of participants just before the rounds (three hours before).

Information about the International Astronomy Olympiad 2002 is available since January 2002. The Olympic Coordinating Council will be glad to receive your comments and proposals for the next IAOs. According to Statutes on the Olympiad Autorized National Representative (Astronomical) Organizations may send applications for IAO-2003 hosting not later December 22, 2002.
