Setting Up Your Own Site
You are permitted to set up a Views
of the Solar System mirror site as long as you follow the
following guidelines: Views of the Solar System may be distributed
on the World Wide Web as long as it is used for non-profit applications
and the pages are not modified. Views of the Solar System is
copyrighted © 1997 by Calvin J. Hamilton and under no circumstance may
it be used for profit applications with out the written consent of the
author. I give teachers permission to make hard copies for their
students. Many of the images are in the public domain and may be used
without further permission, but many of them are copyrighted.

At the bottom of each page of Views of the Solar System
is a HOST
button that links to host.htm. You may modify the host.htm file
to point to your host. I would appreciate that you leave the link
to the most up-to-date mirror listing,
the link to the main server, the Views of the Solar System
icon, and my name at the bottom of the page. You may add additional buttons
and information about your server.
Here's what you need to do to obtain a mirror copy:
Views of the Solar System Mirror File - (The new English mirror file is now available at this time)
- You will need about 11 MB of disk space.
- Make a directory and copy the file
http://www.hawastsoc.org/solar/solar.tar.gz (7.5 MB).
- Extract the archive with gunzip and tar.
All the files will end up in the directory "solar".
- Check the ownership and permissions; they should be set for
public read-only access.
- If so desired, add a link to your host in the host.htm file.
- Point your WWW browser to solar/homepage.htm.
You should be up and running.
- Send me an e-mail message,
and I will added you to the mirror list.
