| CONFERENCE LOCATION:
GMIC'99 Session in St.Petersburg will be held in the Main Building of St.Petersburg State
University, Universitetskaya Emb.7. This historical building of the oldest Russian
University is
at Neva embankment in 3 minutes walk from the Pointer of Basil Island, 10 minutes walk by
Palace bridge to Palace Square, the Hermitage and Nevsky prospect.

| REGISTRATION:
Participants are invited for Prerigistration and Registration in electronic form via
Internet till
May 15 and July 1 correspondingly. During the Conference Registration area will be located
near Petrovskij Hall of St.Petersburg State University and will work from August 23 10:00
to
August 27, 1999, 17:00.

Participants $250 by July 1, 1999
$275 after July 1, 1999
Young scientists $125
$135 after July 1, 1999
Accompanying persons $100
Registration fee covers attending the
Conference sessions, refreshment, publication of
GMIC-99 proceedings, Conference dinner, social events.
Participants from CIS pay reduced registration
fee in roubles which will be declared
additionally after June 1.
Registration fee should be transferred to the
LOC Currency Account which will be indicated
the nearest time or payed in cash at Registration desk.

| INTERNET
ACCESS:
Internet and E-mail connection will be available at the Registration area during the whole
Conference.
Abstract submission and notification
Participants are invited to send a short abstract(about half a page) by E-mail to
conf99@brown.nord.nw.ru in ASCII text format. The abstract must include author(s)
affiliation,
address, E-mail, FAX. OC confirms receiving of the abstract and notifies the authors of
acceptance/rejection of the abstracts as oral or poster presentation by E-mail till May
15.

| PROCEEDINGS:
Proceedings of GMIC'99 will be published after the Conference. Full papers in "camera
ready" format should be submitted by the authors till the end of the Conference.
Instructions
for the authors will be given in the Third Announcement.

| ACCOMODATION
LOC reserves rooms for participants from August 22,1999 till August 29,1999 in the Hotel
of
St.Petersburg University (Vasil Island, Karablestroitelej 20) and
"Sankt-Petersburg"
Hotel(Pirogovskaya emb.5/2)
Prices for foreign participants in the Hotel of St.Petersburg University are:
single/double room in a two room unit with a bath and a kitchen - $20/$30 per night
(breakfast included)
Prices for foreign participants "Sankt-Petersburg" Hotel are:
single/double room - $70/$90 per night(breakfast included)
Prices for participants from CIS will be given in roubles after June 1.

| MEALS:
Lunch will be served for participants in "Academia" Restaurant in two minutes
walk from the
Main Building of St.Petersburg University. Tickets for lunch will be available at
Registration
area for $15 per person. There are also some cofeteria in the University Main Building. If
you
prefer vegetarian food, please, indicate it in Registration form.
Supper will be available in the Cafe of St.Petersburg University Hotel and in the
Restaurant of
Hotel St.Petersburg after 7 p.m.

| TRANSPORT:
Once a day special buses will deliver participants from the Hotels to the Main Universiry
Building and back that takes 10 minutes, public transport is well developed and available
during the whole day.

| SOCIAL EVENTS:
City tour with a visit to Peter and Paul Fortress, St.Izaak and Kazan Cathedrals,
Salvation on
Blood Curch, Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Summer Garden.
Boat tour on rivers and cnannels of St.Petersburg.
Visit to Hermitage.
Visits to St.Petersburg theatres.
Extensive Programme for accompaning persons:
Visits to Petergof(Fountain town), Pushkin and Pavlovsk.
Visits to Russian Museum, the Memorial House of Peter the Great, Pushkin Memorial Flat.

| VISA
On request of participants LOC will send formal Invitations neccessary for applying for
visas in
Russian Consulates abroad. The personal data(passport number, date of birth, itinerary,
period
of stay in Russia) should be indicated in the request sent by
E-mail(conf99@brown.nord.nw.ru)
till July 1.

| MEDICAL SERVISE:
Medical care during the Conference can be provided by University Medical Center free of
charge.
If necessary foreign participants can get medical care in American Medical
Center(AMC)(http://www.amc.cz). A detailed invoice is issued to obtain reimbursement from
your health insurance company. AMC charges are reimbursed by most insurance plans.

| CLIMATE:
The weather in St.Petersburg in the end of August is still usually warm with occasional
rains.
The average daytime temperature is +19 C, the average nighttime temperature is +13 C.

| ACCESS to ST. PETERSBURG
By Air
St.Petersburg International Airport(Pulkovo 2) services flights from Europe and USA. If
there
are no direct flight from your country to St.Petersburg FINAIR, CLM,
CSA(http://www.csa.cz),
LOT, other Companies have flights St.Petersburg from USA, Canada, Japan and Europe via
Helsinki, Amsterdam, Prague, Warshaw etc. Airport Pulkovo 2 is located in 40 min/30 min by
bus/car from the City center.
By Rail
Participants can reach St.Petersburg from Moscow or Helsinki by a night or day train that
takes 6-8 and 5-6 hours correspondently. Trains arrive to Moskovsky and Finlandsky
Stations
which are located in the center of City.
By Road
St.Petersburg is rather easely accessable by bus or car from/via Helsinki which is in 350
km
from St.Petersburg on the road Helsinki-Vaalimaa-Vyborg- St.Petersburg.
Arrival to St.Petersburg
Recommended arrival date is August 23 when transfer will be provided during the whole day.
Departure from St.Petersburg
Recommended departure dates are August 28-29. Some social events are also scheduled on
August 28. On these days participants will be delivered to Airport/Rail st./Bus st.
