"Is biochemistry alternative to earth one possible?"

A.F. Topunov (A.N. Bach Institute of Biochemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow

Abstract:

Possibility of existence of life based on biochemical processes different from typical for Earth living organisms is discussing.

Different variants of such life are examined. They can be organisms used absolutely different material bases and solvents (i.e. methane life) and living under different physical and chemical conditions (temperature, medium composition)/ These organisms are rather often examining in literature.

At the same time they can be organisms living under conditions similar to Earth one but using other types of metabolism (i.e. without free oxygen). Examples of living organisms with such types of metabolism are citing and possibility of evolution based on these processes is discussing.
