"The Whisper experiment on-board the Cluster mission: multipoint observations on density and wave structures"

Abstract:
In operation
on-board the four spacecraft of the Cluster mission, the Whisper
instrument is a sounder and wave analyser, dealing with electric field
fluctuations in the 2 - 80 kHz range.
In a first part, will by present the instrument: functioning, quantity
measured, performances, typical observations.
In a second part, will be present wave observations in various regions of
the magnetosphere, and indicate a few directions of ongoing studies or
considered
directions for future ones.
In a third part, will be discussed density structures. It will be shortly
describe four points analysis tools which can help us separating spatial
features from temporal ones, and show an illustration. In the end, it will
be present observations of the behaviour of density irregularities at the
plasmapause.
