PLANETARY DATA IMAGE PROCESSING LAB

The Laboratory supports the space TV experiments, mainly in the planetary exploration missions. The main objectives are the telemetry data stream acquisition, video, spectral and auxiliary data extraction, decoding and visualization, imagery data decalibration and enhancement, public products assembling and thematic processing. The separate objective is Star Trackers development and the experimental test support.

The new objectives of the Laboratory activity:

The images are in GIF format.

• VEGA mission - Venus and Halley comet investigations.

  Mosaic image of Haley comet from Vega-2 probe from 03/09/86. The first major component shows the integration of the presented images and the high major components shows the features of the nucleus.

• PHOBOS mission - Martian satellites investigations.

  Phobos on the Martian limb, the image from Phobos-2 probe from 02/28/89. The contrast enchancement at the separate brightness bands provides the details on the surface of Mars.

• MARS exploration program.
  Closed because of the crash of MARS-96 mission .
