PRESENTETION AND TREATMENT OF INFORMATION FROM COMBINED DATABASE OF SUNSPOT MAGNETIC FIELDS Miletsky E.V., Nagovitsyn Y.A. , Ivanov V.G.
Central astronomical observatory of RAS, Saint-Petersburg, Russia, solar1@gao.spb.ru Abstract We present "Combined database of sunspot magnetic fields" (http://www.gao.spb.ru /database/mfbase/gindex.html), which includes large number of material of daily sunspot magnetic field observations. This data were collected by various observatories of former USSR during many years of observations. Now the longest period of time (1957-1997) are presented by data of Pulkovo observatory. The data are located separately for every observatory and arranged in structured sections, with their structure depending on type of the presented information. Methods of operation with this information are briefly discussed. Statistical values (frequency distributions (histograms), means, standard deviations, medians and percentiles) of the sunspot magnetic field strengths for every observatory are calculated. No significant differences are found from comparison of means and standard deviations for different observatories. A test for "distribution hypothesis" showed small but significant difference from normal distribution. This work was supported by RFBR (grant No. 01-07-90289)
