The APEX 12 m submillimetre telescope has significantly contributed to a wide variety of astronomical science areas, ranging from the discoveries of new molecules to large and deep imaging of the submillimetre sky. Continuing on the success of the 2012 and 2014 Ringberg meetings devoted to APEX science, APEX2016 aims at presenting new science results and examining opportunities for the near future.

Among the APEX partners (Max Planck Institut f†®r Radioastronomie MPIfR, Onsala Space Observatory OSO and ESO), the next extension of APEX operations is being considered. New instruments are being commissioned and planned, including new large cameras for wide-field imaging of continuum emission and new heterodyne instruments highly complementary to ALMA. APEX is strengthening its role as a pathfinder for studying large samples and preparing for high angular resolution detailed imaging with ALMA. APEX also provides fast turn-around instrumentation for follow-up of ALMA results.

Registration and abstract submission for the Ringberg meeting is now open on the workshop website. The registration deadline is 25 January 2016.
